“Send out Your Light and Your Truth; let them lead me; let them bring me to Your holy hill and to Your dwelling!” Psalm 43:3 ESV
When did Truth become relative and totally subjective?
When did moral, ethical, and behavioral truths and standards become optional?
When did personal preferences, priorities, and perspectives become Truth?
When did hatred and vilification become the natural response towards a person with a differing opinion or an opposing point of view?
Has Absolute Truth become irrelevant?
It began in the Garden of Eden, when Satan, masquerading in snake skin, convinced Eve that she had a choice between two opposing “truths”—Satan’s “truth,” which wasn’t Truth at all, or God’s Truth. Since that tragic last day in paradise, humankind—cheered on by Satan—has attempted to create its own Truth.
For a while, the phrase “your truth” was popular—as in, “live your truth” and “speak your truth.” It was acceptable to have “your truth.” And, there seemed to be a growing attitude of acceptance that we could all live happily ever after, each living out their own “truth.”
However, people soon realized that two opposing positions cannot be equally true at the same time. They can’t both be the truth. For example, if I stated that black is white, and someone argues that black is black, and if it is true that black is black, saying it is white doesn’t make it so.
That’s when frustration began to rise. Rational arguments and positions are meaningless if they don’t support what I want to be true. Those rational arguments and positions must be wrong. Worse than wrong, people with logical arguments and opposing positions to what I want to be true are intentionally trying to crush my truth, and in effect, crush me.
It then becomes my “moral obligation” to shut down, in whatever manner necessary, any truth that refuses to submit to my truth—never mind that there is no rational argument or fact-based support for my position. That’s not the point; the point is that I want my truth to be The Truth!!

Woah! How quickly the idea of “you have your truth” and “I’ll have mine” has fallen by the wayside. And in its place remains a more insidious movement, which states that whoever is the loudest, whoever throws the biggest tantrum, whoever becomes the most dangerous in their attitude towards others, we’ll let their truth stand because it’s easier and, perhaps, even safer than trying to convince—or even coexist in disagreement with—that person.
What a tragic commentary on the current state of our culture.
“They abhor him who speaks the Truth.” Amos 5:10 ESV
Truth has been under attack since the beginning, but the frequency and intensity of these attacks have accelerated over recent generations, particularly in recent years. Truth is losing ground. The “Church” was so determined to be tolerant, unbiased, accepting, and accommodating to all points of view, beliefs, and practices that alternate “truths” are now being accepted as the Truth.
Many who call themselves “churches” have abandoned God’s Truth altogether to conform to the prevailing cultural narrative. Those clinging to the centuries-old, Bible-based Truths are labeled ignorant, haters, bigots, and even evil.
“Truth always carries with it confrontation. Truth demands confrontation; loving confrontation, nevertheless. If our reflex action is always accommodation regardless of the centrality of the Truth involved, there is something wrong.” – Francis Schaeffer
Truth, by definition, is unchanging. It is unwavering. God defines all Truth. Truth IS relevant. And, all the arguments against Truth, all the attempts to shout Truth down, or even kill Truth, will not change the absolute fact that Truth will not bend, it will not bow, or scrape. Truth cannot and will not be undone.
Over 2,000 years ago, the truth-haters tried to kill Truth when they nailed TRUTH to the cross. But our mighty Savior, Truth personified, could not be defeated then, and He will not be defeated now or ever.
Jesus said, “I am the Way, and the Truth, and the Life.” John 14:6
God is the Author of all TRUTH. His Truth will not be defeated.

“Teach me Your way, O LORD, that I may walk in your Truth.” Psalm 86:11 ESV
“We are either in the process of resisting God’s truth or in the process being shaped and molded by His truth.” – Charles Stanley
“Truth has no degrees or shades. A half-truth is a whole lie, and a white lie is really black.” – John MacArthur
If the truth claims of the world do not line up with the Truth of Scripture, then the world’s truth is NOT the Truth that it claims to be.
Whose Truth is shaping your life?
The truth of the world or the Truth of God?
“The sum of Your word is Truth, and every one of Your righteous rules endures forever.” Psalm 119:160
